At Turbinenplatz – the largest and one of the hottest squares in Zurich – a nine-metre suspended fog-ring was installed in 2022. In 2023, two additional smaller, lower rings and a playful fog-line at ground level were added in different areas of the square. The installation magically transformed the square into a convivial place.
The pilot project was promoted by Grün Stadt Zürich as part of the measures of the City of Zurich to reduce urban heat island effect. The Fog-Istallation is being scientifically monitored by ZHAW (download the report) and presented by Nephos during the Conference on Urban Climate “Beating the Heat” 2023 (download the poster).
