KOSMOS Altstadt

An exhibition panel in the section "Cool streets and alleyways for a hot future" tells the story of the Rain Cloud – La Nuvola Piovasca installed in the centre of Bellinzona in 2019. On hot summer days, this not only cooled and purified the air, but also provided welcome shade, inviting people to stop and rediscover the square as a poetic meeting place.

Stories of Swiss Old Towns

 

In the old town, we search for authenticity and, on closer inspection, discover a whole cosmos: here, people live, work, do business, stroll and shop in a densely populated area with a historic atmosphere. We take the pulse of the old town and ask what it is like to live and work between streams of tourists and vacant buildings, between protected buildings and adaptations to climate change.

The exhibition was developed with people from more than 20 Swiss old towns. Join them as they take you behind the facades, hear about their visions and challenges in this special urban zone, and discover exemplary projects in the alleys, courtyards and squares.
