Nephos at the Forefront in mitigating Heat Waves and adapting to Climate Change

Brauiplatz Hochdorf LU

As part of the urban revitalisation of Brauiplatz, designed by BNP Landschaftsarchitekten, Nephos built a high-pressure Fog Fountain. A refreshing, scenic and playful installation with a robust structure and autonomous activation that adapts to weather conditions.

Care Homes, Hospitals, School

Nephos Fog Systems have been tested in three care homes. Heat waves particularly affect the most vulnerable people: cooling outdoor gardens allows residents to enjoy fresh air even on the hottest days, whilst reducing the need for air conditioning. The same approach can be applied to hospitals, school grounds and all areas frequented by sensitive users.

The Chiasso border post was the first Nephos pilot installation in a customs environment. Staff at manned border crossings are exposed to weather conditions all year round, with no shelter during heat waves. The solution can be applied to canopies, covered areas and exposed workspaces.

The project aims to expand permanent water bodies and wet areas even under water-deficit conditions. The former early-twentieth-century fish pond has been restored while preserving its historical memory, and new ponds have rapidly been colonised by amphibians and rare botanical species.
